Rare Books on Burma

The Burma Studies Foundation supports the Center for Burma Studies through the gathering of Burmese materials. This interrelationship was developed to gather scarce resources on Burma in an environment where they would receive appropriate care and could be readily used by those interested in Burma/Myanmar and its development.

Titles in the Rare Books on Burma collection were published in English during the 18th and 19th centuries. They cover history, cultural anthropology, archaeology, religious studies, art history, political science and musicology. Only books that provide in-depth knowledge and first-hand insights, experience and observations, were selected for the collection.

Our current collection contains more than 1,000 photographs, maps, images and drawings. In the coming months, more valuable works will be added to reflect a comprehensive and accurate representation of Burma.
