Supply and Operation Management

Dr. Joy M. Field is an associate professor of operations management in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. She received an MBA, MS in statistics, and PhD in operations management from the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include service and manufacturing operations design, quality management, and operations strategy. Her recent research focuses on designing and managing the service co-production process to improve its efficiency and effectiveness, with an emphasis on the role of the customer co-producer. She has published her work in a number of journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Decisions Sciences, International Journal of Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Strategic Management Journal. She serves as an associate editor for Decision Sciences and Journal of Operations Management. Her article, “Service Coproduction with Information Stickiness and Incomplete Contracts: Implications for Consulting Services Design,” co-written with Mei Xue, partially provides the research upon which the ideas and foundation for the proposed book are based.
